Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals at Heston are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, provided upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines your specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Heston Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with additional fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence, held for the minimum duration specified in the Rental Agreement, is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Please review any extra requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Information
- Reservations for Heston Car Hire can be completed via our website, by telephone, or at our local Dartford office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed at this point. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. It is also important to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is insufficient. Late returns can result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- Basic third-party insurance coverage is included with every rental at Heston Car Hire. Details regarding coverage limits and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. We offer additional insurance options to help minimize your financial liability. You remain responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where further coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and modification terms differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For detailed information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Prohibited activities include any illegal use of the vehicle, such as racing or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials or engaging in activities beyond the vehicle's intended purpose is not allowed. Additionally, sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly prohibited. Driving under the influence or exceeding passenger and weight limits is also forbidden, as is operating the vehicle outside designated geographical areas without prior approval.
Violation of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Heston Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for any loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Laws
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
